James Bittner and Sean McCarthy will become Newport County's caretaker managers
Former Plymouth Argyle striker Warren Feeney has become the second League Two manager to be sacked in three days after Newport County showed him the door this morning.
Assistant manager Andy Todd has also departed Rodney Parade while fellow former Pilgrims Sean McCarthy and James Bittner have stayed on as first team coaches and will assume caretaker responsibilities.
The Exiles lost 1-0 at Grimsby Town last night and find themselves at the foot of the Football League after one win all season and a run of three defeats on the bounce.
In a statement the club said: "The club can today confirm that manager Warren Feeney has been relieved of his duties as first-team manager.
"Following a mixed start to the season the board of directors feel a change is necessary.
"We would like to thank Warren for his service since joining the club back in October 2015 and wish him all the best for his future career.
"In addition, assistant manager Andy Todd has also left the club with immediate effect.
"First-team coaches Sean McCarthy and James Bittner will remain at the club in their respective positions and assume caretaker responsibilities.
"The club is intending to make an appointment as soon as possible and will make an announcement in due course."
