Exclusive investigation: England manager Sam Allardyce for sale

Sam Allardyce used his position as England manager to negotiate a £400,000 deal and offered advice to businessmen on how to “get around” FA rules on player transfers, The Telegraph can disclose.

Before he had even held his first training session as England’s new head coach, Allardyce negotiated a deal with men purporting to represent a Far East firm that was hoping to profit from the Premier League’s billion-pound transfer market.

He agreed to travel to Singapore and Hong Kong as an ambassador and explained to the “businessmen” how they could circumvent Football Association rules which prohibit third parties “owning” players.

Unbeknown to Allardyce, the businessmen were undercover reporters and he was being filmed as part of a 10-month Telegraph investigation that separately unearthed widespread evidence of bribery and corruption in British football.

Ain't read the article but if all they have on him is him telling them how to bend the rules to their advantage then that isn't sackworthy is it?

Not in Divisions 1 & 2 unfortunately.....already trying to undermine the smaller clubs with changes to the League Cup and now the FA Cup.

Probably not. Even if it is,the article doesn't put the Telegraph in a particularly good light in telling tales and spilling the beans on what Allardyce said about people like Roy Hodgson and Gary Neville in a secretly recorded conversation which Allardyce must have presumed was strictly off the record.

The point is that he should never have been speaking in such terms without absolute trust in who he was speaking to. He is handsomely paid (£3M per annum - the highest in world football) for what he does yet he was leveraging his new position within weeks of his appointment to secure another £400k position.

If he knows how to circumvent the rules and who is doing it then he has an obligation to inform his employers, UEFA and FIFA, not boast about it. I understand that those organisations have hardly had a clean record on all things corruption in the past few years but those are still the right channels.

As is the case these days when the press have a major story there are more allegations to be published over the coming days leading up to Sam's squad announcement on Sunday.

Spot on 1st mate. Another example of why I don't worry about the Prem or even England. Havn't watched either for years. Pure greed from the top and £3 million a year salary - Jeeeeez and he still wants more. He had better be toast but then some club will employ him on more than £3 mill a year.

What fcuks me off more than anything is that a newspaper is delighted to disrupt England's World Cup campaign. Vilify an individual if they must, but in this case the timing of the exposé is set to have maximum effect on the actual upcoming games.
